Porter's at Zion Park sits right outside of the Zion National Park. The cool think about this place from my point of view is that they open up early in the morning (6 AM) which works perfect for us.

I saw this in their bathroom, thought it was cool (and fun).

They offer the typical comfort food items, but I had an issue with the item I ordered. More on that in a minute.

I had, of course, the country fried steak.

The country fried steak that isn't steak

But, it's not made with steak, any form of steak; I completely missed this when I read (or didn't read) the menu. And, the menu says its chopped steak, but its not, its a pork cutlet. Don't be fooled by the lies on the menu.

I say this because most places make country fried steak either from ground beef, cubed steak and, in some very rare cases, actual steak. I once ate at a rooftop restaurant in Vicksburg that served country fried steak made out a New York Strip steak. Heaven.

Anyway, their country fried steak is essentially schnitzel with sausage gravy on it. Terrible stuff. We ate there two mornings (because there are not many breakfast places in Springdale) and I definitely had the Rise and Shine breakfast which was much better.

The service was great both times and the place fills up early in the morning which was nice to see. They cook peppers in their country potatoes, which I hate, I wish they mentioned that on the menu.

I'd definitely go back, I just will never have the country fried steak again until they actually make it with beef meat.
